2016 - The Year of Re-Reads

Blogging makes you read a lot and new books. You need content - so re-reading loves fall to the wayside. I decided since I needed to change my outlook on the blog, that I needed to read what makes me happy. I loved some of the reads I read in the last couple of years so much that I wanted to revisit them.

One of my biggest wishes with reading is to be able re-read with the same feeling of magic I had with the first read. Even though that is not possible, it is so fun to re-live the characters and places. The first set of books I re-read were the Grisha series.

Secondly, I hit up The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. I seriously, seriously have girl crushes on Karou and Zuzana! They are so amazing and I want to be their friend in real life. I want to go to Poison Kitchen, have goulash and an apple dessert. I want to meet Brimstone and work with the Chimera. I want to be part of this book, so badly! Send me to Morocco NOW - after a small stop in Prauge!

Do you re-read? What books do you want to re-read the most?

  1. I re-read some but not a lot. Mainly because of the book review programs I'm a part of - I'm not complaining mind you because I do love it. Speaking of the two series re-reads you've featured, I've heard good things about them but haven't ever read them. Glad to know you enjoy them - and happy to know you're rediscovering joy in blogging. :)

  2. *hides face in shame* I still need to finish up the Daughter and Smoke and Bone trilogy. The first book was, I have to admit, a little bit slow for me. That really sucks though because everyone seems to be loving the series so much and I'm here, can't get through the first book. I read the Grisha trilo and wasn't that interested. I have to say Six of Crows is 1000000x better than Shadow and Bone!

  3. I used to re-read a lot when I first started working after college, because I couldn't afford to buy lots of books. Now, I'm a crazy book buyer with tons of unread books on my eReader and on my shelves. Every time I re-read something, I feel guilty because of all my unread books. :( If I took the time, I'd like to re-read The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices in chronological order. See if I can spot things I missed the first time around.

  4. I have to admit that I don't re-read books. I have too many new ones sitting on my shelf. But I do have a few favorite urban fantasy series that I'm tempted to see if I can re-live. I'm worried that re-reading my favorites will take away all the sparks and shine that I so liked about them.

  5. I have re-read of course Harry Potter, all of Jane Austen's novels (some more then others), Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy I've re-read like a million times, I have also read the Soulless series more then once as well as the spin of series, and I've read the Curse Workers series by Holly Black at least twice. Hunger Games series I read twice - might be time for a re-read of those have refused to see the movies (if you have seen them are they any good?) I also have re-read books by Neil Gaiman and Haruki Murakami!

I am obviously a re-reader! I like new books too, but when I find something that makes me feel something that other books don't I can't help but revisit them over and over!

I can't wait to see which way you take your blog and you're right you should read what you want too!! I feel that way sometimes with my foodie blog - at one point I was trying to make things that I thought people would like instead of what I wanted to eat!!

  6. I loved the Grisha series when I read it last year so I'd love to re-read it, something I'll have to do this year. Awesome post :)

  7. Blogging did put most rereading on the back burner for a while, but this year I'm all about fitting in books I'm excited to read when I can (which isn't often). Reread Written in Red and Murder of Crows in one weekend in prep for reading the latest release in that series (Marked in Flesh). Loved it. :)

  8. I re-read a lot. I don't care how many unread books are sitting there staring at me. If I want to re-read something I will. Most of my re-reading is romance novels because I love the couple so much or having to re-read early books in a series so I can continue on. Which I'm doing with DoSaB trilogy right now. I need to read the last book this year, so I bored the audio of the first two and let me tell you, the narrator is AMAZING! Also when I was in Prague about 6 months ago, it made me think of the series and the girls and yea. :)

  10. I had to make myself re-read last year, and I'm really glad I did! I re-read five books, including The Hunger Games trilogy, and it was so great to fall in love with beloved favorites again. I haven't re-read anything yet this year, but I am planning to re-read at least three books.

  11. I don't re-read. I never have but I would love to revisit some of the books I've read before and feel those same feelings like they were new.

I'd love to hear what you thought of the book or others you think I will like! Please share your thoughts! Thank you for the thought, but I am not participating in awards.
